CHEST MACHINE
Norwich-born, London-based newcomers Chest have dropped their latest track, ‘MACHINE’. Their sound is a widescreen take on indie rock, with psychedelic textures merging with jagged guitar lines. Vocalist Joel Reader’s voice is airy and casual in the verses, but it explodes into life for the track’s anthemic chorus. “The lyrics of the song explore that sense of not quite being comfortable with it all – ‘The Machine’ representing the digital web of technology that permeates every single part of our lives,” they say. “There’s a sense of escalating panic as that discomfort is magnified and blown out of proportion by an inescapable manic obsession the narrative voice is struggling to escape.” Chest are playing around the UK this summer. -Dan Peeke
